Before and After School Core / Clubs

Choir

Music is celebrated at GHA – we know that lots of our children love to perform and our Key Stage 2 choir, which meets weekly, performs at lots of our school events including our Year 6 Leavers Assembly, the Christmas Fayre and the Harvest Festival. We also have a weekly singing assembly and sing a variety of songs as a whole school group – sometimes there is dancing and we also use musical instruments.

This links to UNICEF’s Rights of the child, Article 31: All children have the right to relax, play and take part in a large range of cultural and artistic experiences, and Article 29: Education should develop each child’s personality and talents to the full.

Computer Club (Lunchtimes)

We know that some of our children prefer a quieter experience at lunchtimes, rather than playing outside; the computer room is an option for them to relax and follow their own interests with staff support.

After School Club

We run a weekly after school club – please contact school if you would like your child to attend (KS2 only). More information can be found on Tapestry.

Breakfast Club

Children are welcome to attend Breakfast Club when they arrive in school (some of our children have a long journey so are ready for a snack on arrival) – we have a wide range of breakfast options and this is also a wonderful opportunity to practise communication, sharing and helping each other out, as well as independence skills like spreading butter on toast, pouring juice and tidying cups and plates away.

We also encourage children to suggest their own ideas for clubs, which we support them to run.

We are delighted to take part in Children’s University.

The Lincolnshire Children’s University aims to raise children’s aspirations and provide them with a wide variety of exciting learning opportunities that they may not otherwise experience. These activities are designed to raise self-esteem, expand horizons and boost confidence, encouraging children to try something new and instilling a life-long love of learning. Children’s University is part of a national charity, the Children’s University Trust, and is run by the University of Lincoln in partnership with Bishop Grosseteste University.

The children learn about local, national and international events with a focus on understanding the world around them. Some examples are Holi, National Smile Week (dental hygiene), International Thank a Firefighter Day (people who help us and fire safety), European Day of Languages, Recycling Week, Fair Trade Week, Chinese New Year, Book Week and the NSPCC’s ‘Kindness Challenge’.
