ArtsMark

Artsmark is awarded by the Arts Council of England for commitment to quality arts education. Gosberton House Academy has achieved the Artsmark Award twice, the first time in 2008 and then for the second time in May 2012. The Artsmark award is reviewed every 3 years.

Through Artsmark staff demonstrated the delivery of quality arts education and encouraged children's enjoyment of the arts. Children are taught to develop skills and knowledge in the Arts – art, drama, music and dance as well as supporting learning in other areas through cross-curricular links.

There are lots of opportunities for families and the local community to see our work through performances, the school website and performances in other venues such as the church and in Lincoln’s Children’s festival. The children participate in art through cross-curricular activities, clubs and timetabled lessons focused on the arts.

‘The school has a significant impact on bringing the community closer together. Links are very well established, in particular with parents and other schools. The school is also closely involved with village life, local Lincolnshire festivals, sports and the arts and, where possible, shares its resources with its community’.

Staff and pupils work with artists and art organisations several times each year, such as mud sculptures, Polka Dots, M and M productions. This is usually through workshops in school. The children also participate in regional and national competitions with much success such as the Max Respect competition that pupils have won over the past few years.
