South Holland District Council - Pumpkin Celebrations & Family Activities

South Holland District Council will be putting on activities to celebrate Halloween.

Harvest Time Trail Explore Spalding town centre looking for our 10 friendly scarecrows. They are resting in the front windows of some local businesses after a long summer at work in the fields. Find all 10 for your chance to win! 1st prize is a £50 shopping voucher, 2nd prize is a £30 shopping voucher and 3rd prize is a £20 shopping voucher. The scarecrows are resting in the windows of business on Market Place, Hall Place, Red Lion Street, The Crescent, Francis Street, The Sheep Market and Pied Calf Yard. All you need to do is find the names of the businesses where they are resting and enter them into our online entry form by midnight Saturday 31st of October. The entry form will go live on Saturday 10th October. www.sholland.gov.uk/harvesttrail 

Pumpkin Pets Photo Competition Sponsored by Rookes Pet Products Ltd
Does your dog like to strike a pose? Does your cat think it should be on the catwalk? Does your tortoise turn heads? Get your precious pets involved in our celebrations by sending us a harvest or autumn themed photo of your pet for your chance to win a £50 Rookes Pet Products voucher. This competition will open on Friday 9th Oct with entries closing 9:00am Friday 24th Oct. We will short list our favourite entries and post them to our Facebook page. The photo with the most likes and reactions by 9:00am Friday 30th Oct will win the prize.

To enter send us an email community@sholland.gov.uk or a private Facebook message SHDC_Communities with the photo of your pet, its name and your name and postal address. You must be a resident of South Holland to enter this competition. You can find the full terms and conditions on Friday 9th October here www.sholland.gov.uk/pumpkin-pets  Be as creative as you like with your photo, they don’t have to be wearing fancy dress, you could have a harvest themed scene or props in the photo.

Online Activities
Follow our Facebook page for our fun pumpkin and harvest themed activities throughout October. There will be a pumpkin carving demonstration by a local BBC featured artist Johnathan Nicolls. As well as delicious and healthy cooking ideas inspired by the wide variety of produce grown in this area. We will be sharing some great harvest inspired home decoration and craft ideas to keep the whole family busy and have lots of fun facts, interesting information and stories to tell about our areas fascinating farming heritage.
