Chris Packham visits Gosberton House Academy
to celebrate NAS Advanced Award

 

Autumnwatch presenter and one of Britain’s best known conservationists, Chris Packham visited Gosberton House Academy last week to celebrate their achievement of attaining the National Autistic Society’s ADVANCED Status Award. Chris is a visiting lecturer at Lincoln University (Gosberton House Academy is part of the Lincolnshire Educational Trust- part of the university).

Chris was recently part of personal documentary, “Aspergers and Me” which gave a small insight into his life and how being diagnosed in his forties affected him. He is acutely aware of how having Asperger's (a form of Autism) has helped make him who he is today and how it impacts him in everyday life in the TV Industry.

Ms Stanton and the rest of the team at GHA were thrilled with the school’s most recent accolade. The school is one of very few schools and the first in the East Midlands to be awarded ADVANCED status. The report listed numerous reasons why the school was so deserving of this award from their creative approach to learning, the sharing of expertise within the Autism and wider community and their engagement with families and friends of the school.

Parental, pupil and professional feedback was also crucial to their achievement.

The children were thrilled with their special visitor and the school hope to welcome Chris back to visit again in the near future.
