Background information

I became a qualified teacher in 1996 and began my teaching career in a small rural primary school; after a year I decided to that I needed more experience in different environments. The next year I spent gaining experience in a busy town school; in a special school(yes here !) and in a very reception class in a deprived part of a busy town. I then spent 3 years in a mainstream school becoming more and more frustrated with the state of special needs provision in the school and wanting to do more. Therefore I rejoined the school in 2000.I began my school life at GHA in upper school , primarily in Class 6. As the years passed unlike the children, I went down school ! Teaching in all areas of the school before landing in Key Stage 1 . I have enjoyed working here and I am now challenging myself to lead this new dynamic team in our new build.  am also subject leader for ICT and have the responsibilty of overseeing the curriculum development.

Hopes and aspirations to the GB/School

ICT from 2014 will now be merged into all the other curriculum areas, as we teach our children to get ready for the outside world. A new challenge of computer science will now be introduced to the national curriculum with a new exciting programme of studies to excite and motivate our children. To progress my own professional development and also have the role as student mentor and liason for our numerous apprentices, volunteers and work placement students. It is also a fabulous feeling to see these young (and sometimes mature) people learn and grow and know that our school has played a major role in shaping their career and given them a wonderful , solid foundation that they can take away with them and use - living and breathing our ' working together, learning together ' ethos.

Background information

I live in Spalding with my partner and our 3 year old daughter, Lila. I grew up in Spalding, and, apart from 3 years away at university, I have been here my whole life.

As the newest member of the governing body, I am constantly learning from the fantastic team here. The first day I arrived they could not have made me feel more welcome, something I’m sure all other people that have been to the school will agree with.

I am a member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, so am always looking to bring over some of the fantastic materials and areas of interest they have there and apply it to the education here at school

Hopes and aspirations to the GB/School

School is first and foremost about its pupils. My first belief therefore is that every moment there should be safe and enjoyable. My aim is to find interests that pupils are passionate about, and give them the best possible opportunity to progress it onto education after primary school, and then through to their later life. The things they learn and see now could well be the biggest influence shaping their future both academically and at home.

My long term goal is to ensure the school has the best possible links to research to make sure we are not just doing the best possible job we can, but also leading the way for others.

There is a wealth of information available and continuous progress in educational research and I hope we can not only use it but also help contribute to it.
