Safeguarding Statement of Intent for Gosberton House Academy

Gosberton House Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Gosberton House Academy holds the 'Gold: Rights Respecting' accreditation, showing that we have fully embedded the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into our practice and ethos. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect and bullying. Pupils should be able to participate in all academy activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm.  This is the responsibility of every adult employed by or invited to deliver services at or to the academy. Gosberton House Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people through rigorous application of Safer Recruitment processes. All applications for staff positions in the academy are thoroughly vetted in accordance with policy. DBS checks are undertaken for all staff and for volunteers who work on a regular basis in the academy. All school staff complete annual safeguarding training as well as in-year refresher training. They are also required to read the Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023 document and updated Child Protection policies. These can be found below. In line with statutory requirements, we have a Designated Safeguarding Lead and a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, and a governor who has responsibility for safeguarding. Their details can be found above. Please ask to speak to them in school or contact them on the school phone number if you have a safeguarding concern.
