Gosberton House Academy has been awarded an Advanced Accredited Award from the National Autistic Society, according to their expectations for specialist schools. They have demonstrated the highest standards of good practice in supporting autistic children and young people. The NAS said, ‘Your children were charming and delightful, taking great pleasure in showing-off everything that they do, taking our visitors to their favourite play areas and introducing them to their friends.’
Other comments from NAS included:
• All staff have an excellent understanding of autism, and demonstrated throughout interviews their knowledge of how autism can impact on pupils in different ways and why they used specific strategies to support pupils to access learning and get the most out of school life.
• Pupil Voice is exceptionally strong at Gosberton House Academy. This is recognised by the school being a Gold accredited UNICEF rights respecting school. Children know their opinions are valued and respected and present as confident to share their views and opinions.
• Family questionnaire feedback is overwhelmingly positive, 72 families completed the questionnaires of which 97% of respondents stated that the support their child receives in always good. Families clearly feel their children are well cared for, well supported and make excellent progress. Engagement and involvement of parents with the school is exceptionally strong.
• A number of strengths are highlighted including the ‘flawless’ demonstration of methodology in both Attention Autism and Voices; Outdoor Learning; the ‘Rights Respecting’ culture; Sensory provision and Family Support.
Ms Louise Stanton, Executive Principal at Gosberton House Academy said, ‘We are absolutely delighted to receive this accolade from the National Autistic Society.
