School Meals

School Meals

From our own school kitchen we provide the option of a hot meal at lunch time every day. Our menu is designed to provide a varied and healthy choice which means that your child can enjoy a tasty, healthy meal at a very fair cost and without the fuss of making packed lunches. We also cater for alternative dietary needs including vegetarian and gluten free.

At Gosberton House Academy we believe that school meals give your child a real appetite for learning and help them to achieve their full potential. In addition to eating a hot meal your child learns the essential skills of using cutlery and eating as part of a family group. Such vital skills help you as a family in your daily life outside of school. This is why we encourage and support every child to eat at least one cooked meal a week.  Please take a look at our menu and see what meals you may wish to select.  Some parents worry that their child may be hungry if they do not eat much when trying new things but please be assured that they have plenty of healthy snacks and water throughout the day.

Parent Pay

In an attempt to remove all cash & cheques from school we use an e-payment method to order and pay for all school dinners. This can be done online using a very secure website called Parent Pay. If you already have a ParentPay account with another school , you can simply login to that account and add your other children via the ADD A CHILD tab on your home page .Any new pupils will be sent details from school of a unique activation username and password for parents to activate their account. Once you have activated your account you can make online payments straight away. Currently school meals cost £2.20 per day.

Please note the deadline for ordering meals each week, will be midnight on the Tuesday before the week you are ordering. If you miss the deadline you will need to provide a packed lunch for your child.

To look at Termly School Menus please look in the 'Latest Letters' of the school website.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that everyone goes to the website and selects their meal choices each week – even if you are receiving Universal Infant Free School Meals or Free School Meals

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium

If your child is eligible for ‘free school meals’ and you register them for this, we’ll receive extra funding called ‘pupil premium’. We use this extra money to improve the educational provision and resources at the school.

What is pupil premium funding?

Pupil premium funding from the government is given to schools to help pupils reach their full potential, regardless of their background or financial situation. It’s provided for pupils who:

  • Are registered for free school meals
  • Have been registered for free school meals at any point in the past 6 years
  • Are, or have been, in care
  • Have parents in the armed forces

Is my child eligible for free school meals?

Your child might be eligible if you access:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on
  • Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income not exceeding £7,400 (£616.67 per month)

Universal infant free school meals

Currently, pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to a free school meal thanks to a different government funding scheme known as universal infant free school meals (UIFSM).

You shouldn’t confuse UIFSM with free schools meals and the pupil premium.

If your child is in reception, year 1 or year 2 and is eligible for free school meals according to the criteria above, you should still register because we’ll receive the extra pupil premium funding.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that everyone goes to the website and selects their meal choices each week – even if you are receiving Universal Infant Free School Meals or Free School Meals

Does my child have to eat the free school meals?

No. Pupils who are registered for free school meals don’t have to eat them. If you’re eligible but you want your child to have packed lunches you should still register because the school will receive the funding which can support your child in other ways.

How do I register?

Lincolnshire County Council’s online free school meal application service provides parents and guardians with an easy to use Parent Portal to apply for free school meals using the following link :-
