Forest School

I am very excited to bring news of our first full term of Forest Schools activities to the school newsletter.

Starting in September we ran Forest School sessions from Monday to Thursday. We have a range of outdoor clothing available to enable everybody to engage in nearly all weather conditions. Forest School takes a holistic approach to all our activities and all children are given the opportunities to expand upon their knowledge of their environment and seek out new and interesting ways of exploring their own, individual way of learning. Nature walks, outdoor games, construction of shelters using natural materials as well as tarps, storytelling, bush craft, the list goes on. Our amazing school grounds give us the setting to enable us to carry out this amazing outdoor learning provision.

This winter will be our second year of Forest School here at GHA .Rainbow Room,Circles Class, Triangles Class and Classes 3,4,5 and 6 will each tak part on a weekly basis.

As winter approaches I take this opportunity to suggest parents/carers consider sending in appropriate clothing for their children. Although we have waterproofs and wellingtons you may wish to send in your own warmer outdoor clothing to enrich the experience including own wellington boots,or sturdy walking boots, waterproof trousers and a waterproof coat, also gloves and a hat (not baseball caps) In the warmer months a thin overcoat is fine. Please do not send in best clothes -  remember they will get dirty! As one of our children said while expressing aspirations for future sessions, “we should all get dirty”

If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact  me and I will be happy to discuss them with you.

Mr Pearson.
